A Family of 5...

I never thought I would have a family of 5. That number sounds really big in my head, and coming from a much smaller family, had never seen 'one in action' so to speak. Obviously right now it is very overwhelming, but at least once a day I get a glimpse of how sweet it is to be a big family. It's usually at dinner time, when Mason is playing around with his food, demanding more and more ketchup instead of eating his food, when I enjoy the dynamic of interacting as a family. I can't wait until the girls are big enough to join us at the table, share in the demands for ketchup, or salt, or pepper, or more water, or more juice, or less peas, or more carrots--you know what I mean.
It's also really fun to travel together as a family. It's so weird to think we are all the same--we belong to each other--no one is here because someone is visiting or we are babysitting, it's just our family.
These sort of glimpses are so motivating and invigorating amongst the daily grind of diaper changes, late nights, and constant bottle feedings. These will soon pass, but our family will go on for much longer.
