My latest project

A couple months ago I bought a dresser for $2 from a neighbors garage sale. Basically all it needed was a new track for one of the drawers and a new paint job. This week I finally got around to redoing it and I wanted to show it off. We have an open area off our kitchen that has become our play room. We know we have 3 kids and grandparents that love them a lot so inevitably that means a good amount of toys. As much as we organized the toys Brian and I still didn't like the look of all them sitting out. So the re-done dresser is now the new home of many of our toys. I forgot to take a picture of what the playroom looked like before. But just picture a bunch of toys neatly arranged in bins along the wall. Not that appealing, especially when that is the first thing you see when you walk in the front door. I'm much more happier now with how it looks and I got to do something fun for me!

My Weekend Project...I'm Oh So GREEN!

Hi friends! We had great weekend here at the Barela household. Lots of fun family time that I can tell you about later but what I really want to share with you all is my fun little project. I can't tell you how excited I am about what I did, really words don't express it fully. Ok let me just tell you already.

On my run Friday morning I ran past a fun yard sale. Fun, because it was 3 hippies selling all their stuff. But there were some fun finds there! I found a cute little dresser with 3 drawers that I immediately saw great potential in. We have been wanting/needing a night stand for almost a year now. Seriously, since we redid our bedroom last summer we've had this ghetto, ugly, garage sale find table that has only been getting worse with time. The one hippie gal said $5 for the table so I booked home, got some money, jumped in my car and went back and got it.

So next was some sanding, painting and a trip to OSH to get some new fixtures and we were set! I road my bike to OSH and on the way home it occurred to me how GREEN I was being. I'm riding my bike to the store to fix up and reuse old furniture! I liked it.

Ok what would this story be with out some before and after shots.
